The Hasso Plattner Institute offers a practically-oriented computer science study program at an internationally recognized institute. This study includes the Germany-wide unique IT-Systems Engineering program and the five master programs Cybersecurity, Data Engineering, Digital Health, IT-Systems Engineering and Software Systems Engineering.

HPI-Kolloquium: ”public:health Panel”

Abstract

The primary objective of the public:health Panel is to establish a research and development framework catering to both public and private sector entities with a primary focus on general and personalized prevention and treatment. This framework encompasses a comprehensive infrastructure designed to gather data from human subjects across four distinct categories: Self-reported health-related information, physical measurements, biological samples (e.g., for genome sequencing), sensor data, and archival records. Panel participants are drawn from various recruitment sources, including opt-in agreements inherited from previous medical studies, non-probabilistic sources (e.g., river sampling), and probabilistic sources. The public:health Panel operates its dedicated digital infrastructure and supports the establishment and management of research panels under a white-label arrangement for other institutions.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Michael Bosnjak is head of the Department of Psychological Research Methods at Trier University. His research interests include: Research synthesis methods, public mental health, survey methodology, and open science. Michael Bosnjak is a member of the method advisory board of the European Social Survey ERIC, and Editor-in-Chief of Zeitschrift für Psychologie, the oldest Psychology journal in Europe (founded in 1890). Between 2017 and 2021, he was Director of the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID) in Trier, Germany. In 2022, he was delegated to Robert Koch Institute in Berlin as Department Head (Epidemiology and Health Monitoring). Before joining the University of Trier in 2017, he led the area Survey Operations at GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Mannheim, and was Full Professor for Evidence-Based Survey Methodology at the University of Mannheim. He was the founding team leader of the GESIS Panel (established in 2013), a probabilistic mixed-mode omnibus panel for the social sciences.
