HPI in the CHE ranking

Since 2006, the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) has been participating in the ranking of the Center for Higher Education (CHE). In the current university ranking 2024/25, the joint Digital Engineering Faculty of the Hasso Plattner Institute and the University of Potsdam continues to hold a top position in Germany with its range of study programs. Since 2021, HPI is also part of the CHE Master's ranking.

The CHE University Ranking

The CHE University Ranking, which is published in the study guide of the weekly newspaper "Die Zeit", has been offering prospective students the opportunity to find the right university or university of applied sciences for their individual needs with systematically collected and scientifically validated facts since 1998. With around 120,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences/technical colleges (HAW) as well as dual universities and universities of cooperative education examined, it is considered the most comprehensive and detailed ranking in the German-speaking world. The data presented in the university ranking is updated every three years in the individual subject areas.

CHE Bachelor Ranking 2024/25

The joint Digital Engineering Faculty of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and the University of Potsdam (UP) continues to hold a top position in Germany in the field of computer science - this is the result of the current university ranking 2024/2025 by the CHE Center for Higher Education. According to the ranking, HPI is one of Germany's top addresses in the field of computer science with its Bachelor's degree program in IT Systems Engineering.

In the extensive survey, Bachelor students rated various criteria of their degree program. The Digital Engineering faculty received above-average ratings in all fourteen main categories, in some cases well above the average for all universities. Among other things, the students rated the study organization, the spatial and technical equipment as well as the support during their studies at the Hasso Plattner Institute in the top range. The study-related support services - such as tutorials or additional courses to lectures, the accessibility of lecturers and the networking of students with each other - were rated as outstanding. The career guidance offers and the practical relevance of teaching were also particularly appreciated.

In the field of computer science, the joint digital engineering faculty of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and the University of Potsdam (UP) occupies the top position in Germany with its master's degree programs in "Cybersecurity", "Data Engineering", "Digital Health" and "IT Systems Engineering". The HPI ranks among the top group in twelve of a total of sixteen criteria. This is the result of the current CHE Master Ranking 2021/22 of computer science master programs.
